The 1218 is struggling mightily to back her train around the Front Royal wye for the layover after a trip through Manassas Gap. Although limited cutoff kept the Class A factor of adhesion at a tolerable level for most tasks, the grade, curve, and heavy train required the 1218 in this instance to pull forward while laying sand to be able to gain enough momentum to back completely through the wye.
