Remarks & Notes
Although the motive power and crew car are different than on its predecessor California Zephyr, which began service on this route in March, 1949, the last-ever westbound Rio Grande Zephyr looks every bit as sleek and elegant as the original. After just over 34 years of service, the classic stainless steel Budd consist will give way to Amfleet. Here the last non-Amtrak intercity passenger train in the United States crosses the Colorado River at Chacra, Colorado after a station stop at Glenwood Springs.
