On June 3, 2016, High Iron Travel's Front Range Explorer special traveled north from Denver, Colorado along BNSF's Front Range Subdivision to Cheyenne, Wyoming to its next stop of Gillette, Wyoming in the northern end of the Powder River Basin. The train consisted of AMTK P42DC Nos. 57 and 172, along with seven passenger cars, which included: NRPC 57, NRPC 172,
SLRG 9115 "Baton Rouge", SLRG 9665 "Colorado Pine", SLRG 800712 "Belleville", SLRG 600446 "448", SLRG 1394 "Prairie View", SLSF "Cimarron River", SLRG 1 "Caritas". Seen here, my youngest nephew Alex waves at the people riding the train as the special rounds the big curve south of Missile Drive and 24th Street in Cheyenne where they'll do a quick pilot swap before continuing north towards Wendover and Gillette.
