An eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe coal train loops over the mouth of Coal Creek Canyon between Plainview and Clay, Colorado, on the afternoon of July 5, 2003. Leading the train are two GE C44-9Ws and an EMD SD70MAC, while about 3/4 of the way back in the train, a mid train DPU of two SD70MACs and a Dash 9 has just exited Tunnel 1.
