For the first time since well before World War II, you can stand at 42nd St and Madison Ave in New York City and see the full west side and south side of Grand Central Terminal at the same time. I have been coming to this building since I was about 5 and I have never seen this. The demolition of several buildings so that a new taller-than-Empire-State-Building structure called One Vanderbilt has created this scape. The building developers are spending some of their money on the new Long Island Railroad terminal that is being built under GCT. I have seen the drawings and I think the building will be not bad. But if you want this view get it now boys and girls!
With three lines radiating north out of Grand Central Terminal plus service to Port Jervis on the former Erie, Metro North covers a wide swatch of New York's northern suburbs with varying terrains.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
