On October 8, 2016, Long Island train 7734 reported derailing a half mile east of New Hyde Park at 9:00 PM. 7734 was carrying 600 passengers in 12 cars when it sideswiped the PTS-62, a Maintenance of Way track car. Out of the 600 passengers, 33 were injured, 4 of which sustained serious injuries. The injuries comprised of 26 passengers and 7 employees. None were killed in this horrific accident.
