With the 50th running of the annual New River Train Excursions approaching this weekend, private passenger cars from all across the country continue to ferry in to the once bustling railroad town of Huntington (where the train originates) to be cleaned and prepped for the four excursions during the third and fourth weekend of October. Most of the cars have been delivered by the tri-weekly Cardinal, while the motive power, Heritage coaches, & remaining coach cars were moved from Washington to Huntington on a special deadhead move, seen here passing by the restored C&O St. Albans passenger depot in the background. Fortunately, the motive power for this year's New River Train will feature Phase III heritage unit 822, Phase I heritage unit 156, and Phase V non-heritage unit 174 at the point.
