Two former UP/BN Geep's sit silent in the yard near Kanawha Eagle's West Carbon Mine on the former Winifrede Railroad, a railroad itself that predates the famous C&O mainline through the New River Gorge. Through numerous name changes & shutdowns, the line now owned by Patriot Coal as it's Big Eagle subsidiary still remains a staple of coal hauling in the Kanawha Valley, even in tough times for the coal industry. Today, the two motors are shut down, chocked & parked in the yard at West Carbon waiting on the next dropoff from CSX, while trucks continue to run in & out of West Carbon Mine shuttling coal to SunCoke Energy's KRT Quincy Dock on the opposite side of the Kanawha River.
