From GM&O to ICG to IC to HLCX to INRD to NREX (Whew!)
National Railway Equipment "GP38-2" 30 is leased to Rail Logix Alamo Junction, an industrial park in Elmendorf, Texas. NREX 30 was originally Gulf Mobile & Ohio GP38AC 728, an EMD product built in March 1971. Following the 1972 merger of the Illinois Central and GM&O, this engine became Illinois Central Gulf 9547. After the ICG sold off many of its lines, including most of the former GM&O, the railroad changed its name back to Illinois Central in 1988, and this engine became IC 9547. It was later sold to Helm Leasing (HLCX 3679), which rebuilt it to GP38-2 standards, and then to the Indiana Railroad (INRD 30). Photographed on private property with permission and full PPE.
