Power on this train represents all of California's major railroads, with each taking a turn in the lead depending upon which railroad the special is traveling upon: Union Pacific E9A 951, Santa Fe FP45 5998, Southern Pacific SDP45 3201 and Amtrak F40PH 240.
Crazy pool power consists, colorful gatherings of locomotives at a diesel service area, or a mixture of colorful locomotives in storage lines. A minimum of four different paint schemes required.
