Remarks & Notes
Departing Sheepscot. The snow continues to fall on the tiny hamlet of Sheepscot in the town of Alna, Maine, as WW&F Locomotive #9 makes yet another trip north toward Alna Center, with a load of families destined for a visit with Santa Claus. As the snow gets deeper and the crowds start to taper off, our train crew has already dropped one of the coaches, and the lighter load will make this run easier.

This photo was made near the north limit of the Sheepscot Yard. To my immediate left, just out of view, is the north switch. Just in front of me, in the lower right corner of the photo is the track that leads to the car barn and ultimately, to the turntable. Directly behind the train is the Sheepscot Water Tank. The small, shingled building on the near side of the track across from the water tank is the original Sheepscot Section House. It is the only original structure at the museum and once served as the Sheepscot Station after the original burned in the mid-1920s. The current Sheepscot Station and freight house are located in the distance, behind the section house.
