Remarks & Notes
A pair of Aces keep moving at a constant slow speed as they unload their low sulfur coal at the Xcel Energy Comanche plant which happens to be the largest coal-fired power producing station in Colorado. The plant’s original two generating units were built in 1971 and 1973 respectively and are distinguishable with their red and white painted stacks. The most recent station, seen on the left, was built after the turn of the century and came online in July of 2010 giving this plant the capacity of producing 1410 Gross Megawatts. Between the old and new stacks is the latest addition to the plant, a 100 foot tall HDG (hot-dip galvanizing) Coal Pile Wind Fence that is used to keep coal dust from escaping the facility.
