Remarks & Notes
Ghosts of the 'Wobbly'….Deep within the Feather River Canyon a pair of Union Switch & Signal intermediate searchlights stand guard at MP273, today this is Union Pacific's Canyon Subdivision, however when these signals were first tasked with the job they were placed in service by the Western Pacific Railroad. A late comer to the western transcontinental scene, completed by 1909, the WP fought for its existence until acquired by the Union Pacific in 1982. Much of the WP has vanished over the years however the Feather River Canyon still holds many WP treasures. From the collection of former WP equipment at the Western Pacific Railroad Museum (WPRM) in Portola to the many WP 'landmarks' along the old 3rd Subdivision, including the venerable US&S searchlight signals that still stand watch over WP rails. All these years later the WP still lives, if you know where to look.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
