"SW1001s at Vanderbilt Avenue Yard" Long Island Extra 100 idles at Vanderbilt Avenue a.k.a "VD" Yard on a brisk morning with LIRR SW1001 #100 and New York & Atlantic Railway SW1001 #101. The power was used to assist crews during the rerailing of the train that ran into the bumping block at Atlantic Terminal the week prior. This is the first time diesels have traversed the Atlantic Branch and VD Yard in over a decade.
