Remarks & Notes
A westbound freight train out of Marquette snakes up grade to Monona. The 13 mile climb was tough pull for westbounds to get out of the Mississippi River Valley. The train is bound for Mason City on the IMRL 4th Sub. Leading today's train is 1 of 4 SD35's the IMRL (701-703 and 705) had leased from the MRL from start up until May 1999. The IMRL returned these units to the MRL since they were not as compatible with other power on the roster. The 701 was built in 1965 as the Norfolk and Western 1566.
