Three Rio Grande GP9’s idle in the classification yard at Grand Junction, Colorado. Normally these units would be busy working, but these are unusual times. A landslide in Thistle, Utah has severed the main line, rendering everything between there and Denver/Pueblo as a huge branch line. Traffic would return to Grand Junction when the tunnels and line relocation in the Spanish Fork Canyon reopened on Independence Day.
