Remarks & Notes

With a DODX idler flat coupled to tank cars full of aviation fuel for adjacent Pope Air Force Base, the Cape Fear Railway crew pumps up air before returning to Fort Bragg. Today, the Cape Fear’s MRS1’s are long gone, as is the connection with the Aberdeen & Rockfish at Skibo, in favor of an interchange with CSX in Fayetteville. New Sanford Milling Company’s building has been razed, and this area is part of commercial suburbia.
