Metro East Industries has commenced constructing a large 90-unit order for Union Pacific that includes 45 6-axle Road Slugs and 45 6-axle SD40N Slug Mothers. One of the pair that is being road tested at the MEI facility is seen on February 20 and consists of Road Slug #407 and SD40N 307. The Slugs wear a 400-series number that is 100 off of the Mother itself. Several sets are nearing completion. As a note of interest - UPY 407 is ex UPY 800, exx UP 2800, née C&IM 70; UPY 307 is ex UPY 839, exx UP 2839, exxx UP B4255, exxxx UP 4255, nee MP 3255.
