Remarks & Notes
2-Engine Mixed. When trains became too heavy for just one 0-4-4T Forney Locomotive, several of Maine's 2-Foot operations would add a helper locomotive to the consist. Rather than double head, the typical mode of operation was to put a road engine up front and a helper pushing on the rear of the train. This scheme allowed the helper to cut off on the fly, without the need to stop the train or perform any switching.

The 7-car demonstration train seen here headed north at about MP 6.5, in a location known as Albee's Field. The consist is headed up by Monson Railroad Locomotive #3 from the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum in Portland, with Engineman Bill Piche on the throttle. Pushing from the rear is WW&F Locomotive #9, with Engineman Rick Sisson in control.
