BN's class GP35 was GN's class GP35. No. 2500 leads a former CB&Q GP35 on a transfer headed towards Lyndale Yard Minneapolis' west side. The train is coming off the Mississippi River freight line bridge on the north side of the GN station. The foreground track leads into the former Omaha Road (CNW) coach yard where the Twin Cities 400 once was serviced. This area also saw junctions with the former NP, the Soo Line, and the former M&St. L railways. This was part of GN's mainline to Willmar, Breckenridge and Fargo, and prior to the BN merger saw most of the transcontinental freight traffic as well as the Empire Builder. The line is still used, but most mainline trains use the former NP through Minneapolis via Northtown these days.
