Remarks & Notes
Out in northeast Iowa is a mountain of a grade on the Mason City Sub. The Calmar Hill is a 1.4% grade that runs for about 4 miles between Fort Atkinson and Calmar. The area is mostly inaccessible, but the whole hill is nothing but a big curve, but unfortunately is buried in a deep tree covered valley. I worked my drone out to see what was available for shots. Here a Mona, IA, empty ethanol train floats downgrade towards Mason City with a dirty ECO and a UP. Getting daylight trains out here isn't easy so shots like this are harder to come by.
