“The Heartbreak of Corrosion”
Rust has taken its toll on the best part of the B&O paint scheme—the Capitol Dome emblem—on the nose of this GP40, acting as lead unit on a westbound manifest at Harwood (mp 12) on the B&O/CSX Washington Sub on July 5, 1987. Locomotives: B&O GP40 4037, followed by B&O GP40 3762 and Chessie System/B&O GP40-2 4253.
