You can tell from this photo what the SS Badger was intended to do, haul railcars. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case in August of 1983. She would only load autos and trucks from the dock in Milwaukee, WI. Fortunately, one could still see rail operations on the GBW and the ferry in Kewaunee, WI at this time. Unfortunately, they would ultimately succumb to poor business as well. The Badger does still sail however, cars, trucks and passengers only from Manitowoc, WI. It's worth the trip if you've never done it before.
