Remarks & Notes
Indiana Interstate Railway was a shortline the operated in the late 1970s on the former New York Central "Pumpkin Vine" line between Middlebury and Shipshewana, Indiana. The railroad served several grain elevators, and also hosted steam excursions led by Lakeshore Central 2-8-0 #1977. The line would be abandoned in the 1980s resulting in the closing of the IIRC. The 2-8-0 would end up leading steam excursions out of Logansport, Indiana, in the 1980s before being sold to the Ohio Central and renumbered as #13. Both the Lakeshore Central steamer and Indiana Interstate Alco are seen working in Middlebury in this photo. Tom Golden photo.
