Remarks & Notes
It’s a beautifully warm but windy mid-Spring afternoon, and here we get a glimpse of an exceptionally long Southwest Chief as it skirts beneath the "Devil's Throne" in Cerrillos, NM. Featured are two of several Siemens Chargers that have recently made an appearance to this area. Destined for Amtrak's Cascades service, the units are to be removed upon arrival into La Junta, CO, ultimately bound for the Pueblo testing facilities. Only after completing their 500-mile burn in will they return to the Northwest for official revenue service.

The Southwest Chief is an under-appreciated train. The New Mexico scenery is like none other in the entire system.
