Remarks & Notes
"Locomotive Burnout"... After a train stalls in Roanoke with 110 loads of coal, power from another train was brought in to pull it over the hill. During the rescue attempt, wheel slippage occurred on one of the 6 axel engines resulting in six burns on the rail head. This action shows just how powerful locomotives are and the extreme heat produced to melt the rail. Even though the rail was damaged, the unit train was successfully rescued.
