Remarks & Notes |
An IHB transfer job rolls southeast at Blue Island, about to duck under the Rock Island mainline on Chicago's south side. The railroad was primarily owned by Milwaukee Road and New York Central (Penn Central) at the time, and the color scheme and logo reflect NYC influence. The cluster of bridges in the background cross the canal that connects the Little Calumet River to the Des Plaines River, thus connecting Lake Michigan to the Mississippi River. |
