Remarks & Notes

With it's journey north to San Luis Obispo and return complete, AMTK 507, a late 1991-built product of General Electric, and the private car "Silver Splendor" cool their heels at the bumper of Track 10 of Los Angeles Union Station. A regular part of removing a private car from Amtrak 1790, as the Amtrak train will reverse direction here and continue south to San Diego, the lead locomotive is first spotted at the normal spot to allow passengers to first disembark. Following their detraining, the lead locomotive and private car(s) pull forward almost up to the bumper as they break away from the Amtrak cars. Following the departure of train 1790, the 507 and Silver Splendor will sit at the bumper of Track 10 for a few hours before an Amtrak yard crew is shuttled over from 8th Street to take the two back to the yard. On this cool evening just after sunset, an extra Amtrak cabcar finds itself at the bumper of Track 9...likely taken off an earlier train after running as an extra car.
