Late on a sunny afternoon, a Santa Fe freight that left many of it cars in yards en route, climbs the foothills through Martinez toward Franklin Canyon. In the distance are the big Tosco Oil Refinery and Monsanto Chemical Complex. Beyond that is Suisun Bay.
