When Strasburg’s ex-Canadian National 2-6-0 89 needed to receive major work, the staple of Pennsylvania Dutch country tourist attractions needed to find a replacement to maintain Strasburg’s existing level of service. The adjacent Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania leased PRR E7-class 4-4-2 7002 to Strasburg, and the Atlantic joined fellow PRR veteran 1223, a 4-4-0, on the roster. Here the two alumni of the Standard Railroad of the World team up in one of the earliest, if not the first, instances of the two double heading a passenger excursion on the Strasburg. It’s unlikely that the two ever teamed up during their regular service lives.
