| C&NW's single tracking of the main line in western Iowa had resulted in a real choke point for traffic as coal and intermodal business increased and, with the merger, UP promptly began adding a second main track. That had yet to transpire on this late summer day in '96 as yet another manifest departs Missouri Valley for the run across the freight cut-off to Fremont, NE and points beyond. |
