The local from Altoona, WI to Cornell and back climbs out of the Chippewa River valley at Chippewa Falls en route to the junction at Norma, just up the hill, and the branch line to Cornell. CNW used to bury used railroad ties on the branch, and served a dairy and paper mill. The covered hopper may have been for a plastics plant at Norma.
