Remarks & Notes
Two railroad enterprises ended by politics? Adirondack Scenic Railroad GP9 6076 brings it's train to the Saranac Lake station in happier times. This year the train and rail bike business are both gone and the station is now quiet and empty. New York state has decided that the rails should be removed to build a new trail to add to the 2300 miles of trails already in the Adirondacks. This historic section from Lake Placid to Saranac Lake was built by the New York Central Railroad in 1893 and is now destined to be destroyed forever unless the railroad prevails in it's court battle with New York State.
