A rare visitor to CSX's River Subdivision! On the weekend of October 14th & 15th, Amtrak operated their 'Autumn Express' trips from New York Penn Station, on each day running up the west bank of the Hudson to Selkirk and returning down the Amtrak / Metro-North line on the east side of the river. With some fall colour in evidence, Amtrak GE P42DC #156 is seen on CSX track, leading the train across the Popolopen Creek trestle at Fort Montgomery, beneath the Bear Mountain bridge. Metroliner cab car #9641 is immediately behind the locomotive.
The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
