Coast Starlight on the coast in daylight! On the afternoon of August 22, 2017, we catch the Amtrak Coast Starlight northbound through Goleta, California just outside of El Capitan State Beach Campground. An unusual triple-header of 142 (P42), 171 (P42), and 509 (B32-8WH) leads this consist on the picturesque trip up the lip of the Pacific Ocean.
