Remarks & Notes
Back when the South Shore Line carried express and checked baggage and had a streetfront station in downtown South Bend, package express gets loaded into combine 111 while the conductor watches. Shortly the train will be off to Chicago. At the time, roughly two-thirds of the CSS&SB's South Bend trains offered this service. Within a few months the South Shore's track would be cut back to Bendix on the outskirts of the city, eliminating the traditional street running in South Bend.
