Remarks & Notes
The "Clinchfield 676" (UP 3985) slowly drifts across the great bridge at the confluence of Copper Creek and the Clinch River. The high bridge was built by the Millard-Quigg Construction Co. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in September of 1908; it's 1,091 feet long, and the deck is 167 feet above Copper Creek. The lower (ex-Southern Railway) bridge was built around 1890. One wonders when we will see big steam again on the high bridge.
