From onboard Pennsy's train #90, The South Wind, we get a highball from the rear brakeman aboard a NYC freight waiting in the hole. Burr Siding was south of Lebanon on PRR's I&F, and was improved by funds from the NYC (Big Four) during this era to enable their freights to utilize trackage rights more efficiently between Avon and Lebanon, where NYC trains gained their own rails north to Crawfordsville. I was riding the train and remember the Conductor telling me the smooth ride was because of the money NYC spent to upgrade the roadbed (and CTC).
