Locomotives of three different manufacturers from three different decades pass each other at the west end of Conrail’s Allentown, Pennsylvania yard. In the distance to the left is Delaware & Hudson RS36 5022, a 1963 product of Alco’s plant in Schenectady. Nearly-new Conrail C40-8 6025, a 1989 graduate of General Electric’s Erie works is joined by SD40-2 6487, which rolled out of EMD’s LaGrange plant in 1979.
