Remarks & Notes |
Sitting adjacent to the 1839 realignment of the Baltimore and Ohio mainline over Parr's Ridge is this restored I-5D Cupola caboose built by the B&O between 1925 and 1929. After retirement from the railroad it spent many years in Brunswick in private ownership before it then found itself on a farm near Mt. Airy. In 2014, the caboose was donated to the town and has since been restored by the B&O Museum in Baltimore. In early 2016, was was completed and now sits across the street from the 1875 brick station and serves as the town's visitor center and center mark of the rail trail the town is forging that follows the 1839 alignment that gave the Mt. Airy it's name. |
