Back on familiar rails! Since the closure of Stepan Chemical in Longford Mills south of Washago late 2016 CN 595 has not ventured south of Martins, Mile 141 CN Newmarket Sub. Any incidental M-of-W traffic between Washago and Huntsville has been handled by the daily Toronto-North Bay freights, CN 451 and 450 or the occasional L553. Last night's 450 was supposed to lift these dozen tie gondolas from Huntsvile Yard to be set out at Washago but claimed time constraints and suggested todays "switcher" (595) do the job. Car Control got back to them and told them to bypass the scheduled lift but those of us following traffic on this line were left in the dark as to whether today's 595 would actually make the run or leave it for tonight's 450. Being in town this morning I stopped by the yard and did some detective work, determining that indeed 595 would be taking the train south (just shy of 100 mile round-trip for them) and got a rough timeline for when it was to happen, enabling me to be trackside when it did. Good to see them back on these rails again
