Remarks & Notes
Heart of Georgia 510 passes the ADM animal nutrition plant in Cordele, GA after picking up a cut of recently dropped off cars from the CSX interchange located in downtown. The 510 is a EMD GP38-2 built in 1975 for the Atlanta & St. Andrews Bay Railroad, better known by its nickname "The Bay Line." The 510 was the very last engine purchased new by the ASAB, soldiering on for them and the roads successor, the Bay Line Railroad, until the BAYL was acquired by Genessee & Wyoming in 2005. Despite being owned by them ever since, the engine still sports its original livery and while it's no longer on home rails, the engine continues to serve the south, doing what it was built to do.
