Two items of significance are seen in this photo of A746 as it comes into Loachapoka. First, the XXB 123.3 signal has been changed. The lower signal head has gone from a two light to a three light head, which means it can now give “Advanced Approach” indications for southbound trains. The second significant item is the lone boxcar being pulled by today’s A746 train. This boxcar is bound for the Norbord plywood plant in Lanett, AL, which is the only customer on this portion of the line to get boxcar service. The Norbord plant ceased operations at that mill in 2009, so seeing a 60’ boxcar is something that hasn’t been seen on this train in over 8 years.
