Remarks & Notes
An Amtrak RDC that once belonged to the New Haven RR, now on lease to Metro North, pauses at the modest platform shelter in Ansonia, CT, while covering a Waterbury-Bridgeport branchline run. The large brick building behind the Budd is the former Ansonia Opera House, a once-elegant theater opened in 1870 as a point of cultural pride in what was then a thriving manufacturing town. Closed for decades, it still stands in 2018 and may someday be restored.
