Remarks & Notes
H220, unofficially known as 'Heavy Harry,' is the star attraction of the Australian Railway Historical Society's museum at North Williamstown. Built in 1941, Harry was the largest locomotive ever built in Australia, and the largest non-articulated locomotive to operate on Australian rails. Construction was started on three of these locomotives, but work stalled with the outbreak of WWII and H220 was the only one ever completed. H220 spent its life operating on the North-East line, and was withdrawn in 1958.
