The UP Gila Sub is the ex-Southern Pacific Sunset Route that runs 255 miles from Yuma, AZ, to Tuscon, AZ.
Eastbound City of Industry, CA, to Bedford Park, IL, Z-train passes thru the West Wellton crossovers on the Sunset Route. These ex-Southern Pacific cantilevers signals are not long for the world as work is going on in this area to cutover new signals scheduled in March 2018. The UP has done alot of capacity work to double track alot of this route with the high intermodal business this route sees. Plus the implementation of PTC has these classic signals going to the wayside too.
