UP 3427 East departs Tucson Yard as a track crew replaces ties on Track One. UP spends a lot of capital maintaining the Sunset Route, especially this part which sees heavy traffic. This MOW crew has likely seen a lot of trains during its 8-hour workday. Most eastbounds use Track Two, but some like Amtrak No. 22 use the steeper but slightly faster Track One between here and Mescal.
