Amtrak #349 leads train #8, The Empire Builder, past the Pleasant Prairie power plant in August of 1989. The power plant closed this year and will likely be torn down, eradicating this view in the future.

This train, which runs between Chicago and Seattle and Portland, takes its name from James J. Hill, who founded the Great Northern Railroad and extended it from Minnesota to the Pacific Coast.
