Following Milwaukee Road’s Pacific Extension eastbound from Three Forks, Montana, it traces the Missouri River and crossed it at Lombard. The railroad quickly followed Sixteen Mile Creek through appropriately-named Sixteen Mile Canyon toward the crew change point of Harlowton. In this view above the former townsite of Lombard, the abandoned Milwaukee grade crosses Sixteen Mile Creek twice, while in the background, an eastbound BNSF freight passes by the empty bridge over the Missouri.
