Remarks & Notes
The 520' Frankenstein Trestle in New Hampshire's Crawford Notch is one of the most famous and spectacular locations on the former Maine Central Subdivision where the Conway Scenic Railroad now runs their "Notch Train." The trestle is not named for Mary Shelly's fictional monster but rather for Godfrey Frankenstein, an Ohio artist from the 1800s. Two historical New England EMD locomotives pull the Notch Extra across the trestle toward Whitefield and return. Former Boston & Maine 4266, a 1949 F7(A) leads the train with former Maine Central 252, a 1966 GP-38 trailing.
